Our class is currently learning about the many ways parents, grandparents, and ancestors have made a difference in our lives. Here are some of the topics we have covered in this unit:
- We are exploring some of the unique traditions of families, both in our community and around the world.
- Every child has his or her own family history and traditions. We want to take a look at some of them.
- Learning about our family’s past will help your child see how their ancestors’ traditions, values, and practices have influenced their own lives.
This week and next week your child will need your help to work on a project for school. Here are some ways you can help your child:
- Your child will have a set of questions to ask as an interview. Please help them by answering the questions and writing your responses.
- They will be doing an oral presentation that should include heirloom/artifact, such as food, maps,toys/games, or clothes. Help your child practice for their presentation; they will need to show what they brought and explain why they brought it, (how does it relate to their family background?
- Work with your child to prepare a poster board. It will help their oral presentation!
I look forward to learning about your families!
